Afro-Gàidheil

In this award-winning documentary, directed by Catrìona Lexy Chaimbeul, Cass Ezeji presents Afro-Gàidheil as part of Episode 14 of BBC Alba's Trusadh. The film follows her as she meets fellow Afro-Gaels for the first time and speaks with historians and cultural commentators, including Dr David Alston, to explore the histories and identities that shape Scotland's Black Gaelic community.

Together, they reflect on their experiences as members of a small community within a small community, while celebrating the enduring significance of Gaelic language, music, and culture through revisiting a much-loved Gaelic anthem.

Featuring performances by singers and musicians Carrie Prescott, Tawana Maramba, and Amina Davidson.
